The top five Guild Wars features we take for granted

Published by admin under 65594

Guild Wars was my introduction into MMO gaming. My husband heard of it on a podcast and decided to check it out. I got curious, asked him if I could try it, and never looked back. My outgoing, chatty personality combined with my love of computer games made MMO gaming an irresistible new world to explore. With all the recent (long-awaited) news of Guild Wars 2, this seemed like a great time to take a look back at some of the features of Guild Wars that are rarely found in other games of its type.

Alganon to be exclusively distributed through Direct2Drive

Published by admin under 65596

Alganon fans, you’re going to want to make sure you’re keeping an eye on Direct2Drive, as Quest Online has announced an exclusive partnership to sell the game solely through the online digital distribution service.

Pre-ordering the game before the launch date of October 31st will net you a variety of incentives, including beta access, study bonuses, mounts, family heirlooms, and more! While we don’t have any exact information to offer on what those items are, it still sounds like a nice plethora of stuff for buying the game early.

Of course, partnering with D2D means partnering with IGN, and that means that Alganon’s beta will be conducted exclusively through Fileplanet. Those guys over there will be the keepers of the Alganon beta keys from here on out, so look to them if you’re interested in the game’s upcoming open beta.

CCP Games seeking Dominion expansion play testers, Oct 15th onwards

Published by admin under 65598

The Dominion expansion for EVE Online will bring some major changes to capital ships and sovereignty when it goes live on December 1st. As that release date approaches, the developers at CCP Games are seeking feedback from the EVE playerbase on some of the changes being made to the game. They aim to do this through large scale fleet battles on the Singularity test server with a minimum of 100 pilots, although hundreds more would be preferable. The tests will first focus on open combat between large fleets and later switch focus to player-owned starbase (POS) sieges. There are three play tests (tentatively) scheduled, with more to be announced:

  • Thursday, October 15, @ 17:00 GMT
  • Friday, October 16, @ 18:00 GMT (this is specifically a Sovereignty test)
  • Thursday, October 29, @ 17:00 GMT

Read the full post from EVE Quality Assurance dev CCP Tanis for more info on the tests and how players can connect to the Singularity test server. Players are encouraged to bring out their capital ships and unleash plenty of drones during these mass-tests of Dominion.
